I want to rock the RPM between the reds and greens

- by admin

Yet another gripe I have about living in the 'Peg is that I'm not able to check out the Edward Strichen exhibit at the AGO.

My dad turned me on to the work of Ansel Adams a few years ago and I became obsessed, moving to make the connection from Adams to Steichen and Stieglitz completely blew me away, and I've been in love ever since.

His work is among my favorite examples of pictorialism and I would absolutely kill to get my hands on an issue of " Camera Work" that features his work, though I know it's virtually impossible so it would mean the world to me to see an exhibit featuring his stuff, in particular his fashion photography because they've always been favorites of mine.

Fortunately this book is available to help satiate my needs... but it'll have to wait until after the Holidays, funds are too tight at the moment.

when I was a kid and the world was a town

So much to say, so little energy to sit at the computer and say it with.

School work and Christmas as totally draining me right now, but in a good way. There's a ton on my plate and sometimes it feels super overwhelming and scary but I push through and on nights like tonight when I'm home alone and have time to relax a bit it feels extra-special.

Despite the intense -40ish weather every day I'm not minding winter too much this year, it's probably being so blindingly busy with everything that's happening and also that this time around I get to curl up with someone else to keep warm. That being said, however, I got frostbite on my earlobes and it itches like a son of a bitch.

Winter equals Video Game Time and right away I have a date with my glasses, the couch, some blankets and Oblivion which I've randomly gotten interested in again, most likely because I need something to tide me over until Christmas comes and I get the expansions for Fallout 3 (yesssssss).

I meant to post something witty here earlier but forget what it was.

So goddamned tired.

I can't even focus on making my stupid bibliography for school.

Terrible headache, might leave early this afternoon.

Ty's bed is so much better than mine; I'm so crashing on it.

Friday/Saturday/some-of-Sunday Blog Photo Dump.
Let's do this, shall we?

Can I just point out that Friday Dec 4th was possibly the best Friday evs?
Began by ditching work early to go Christmas Shopping and have a long-overdue lunch with this lovely lady.

Mmmmmmmm I'm drooling just looking at this goodness.
And the best part?
Oh, the price.
Almost as great as the company.
Met up with Ty to dick around in the mall for a few hours do some Christmas Shopping.
Right before this photo was taken I put down the present I'd bought for one of my brothers so I could grab this amazing hat and then proceeded to forget it in the store while we wandered around for the next few hours.
Luckily, we remembered and found it.
Also luckily, nobody apparently shops in the Explore Store.
Eventually booked'r home to get ready got MNML SCRFDT 2009.
Aka that fabulous date Ty took me on in which we dressed all mnml and were extra-pretentious the entire time.
Note the mnml glasses
mnml scarves
mnml black-and-white attire
and my sexy red lipstick 'cause I'm cool.
Ty spent the entire dinner trying to out-cool it with our waiter who def thought he was the hottest shit around
it got funnier the more martini I drank.
Speaking of martinis, don't ever order a Manhattan from Billabong
do you see the difference in martini glass fullness here?
plus there was way too much... something... in it.
definitely too bitter and not good
though the Cosmo they replaced it with totally did me in, so they made up for it
Appy, calimari that blew my face off
not as good as Elephant & Castle, but stil deece.
Entree: Bison Steak that is possibly one of the tastiest things I've ever had.
The price wasn't too tasty but I wasn't paying so whatevs (thanks Ty!)
Post-dinner after picking up some wine we checked out the 2009 Cannes Lions Premiere at the WAG and besides the fact that watching award-winning commercials was a super cool experience
(esp when halfway to drunk as shite)
the entire evening was probably the most creative and fun date I've ever been on.
Yay/
/gushblog.
Saturday Ty, myself and my new wing-tip oxfords from Forever 21 that came in last week did some more shopping.
Aren't you mad jealous of these babies?
Super cute, comfy and winter-friendly!
Mayor's office!
Oh man, Tom Goes to The Mayor. one of the best shows ever.
Especially this part
Fast-forward, party at Dudek's.
Jay got hosed.
Actually, we all did.
Good job BTA.
Awe Komus!
I... don't even know.
"WINNIPEG MANITOBA"
Wow.
Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahahahaha.
I burst out laughing every time I look at this picture, I have no clue what the fuck was happening here or why Komus has a knife.
I tried to put this on my wall at work but kept getting distracted by how completely retarded we are so I had to take it down.
Komus wtf is it with you and that knife?!
Adam and Sarah are basically some of the coolest people you'll ever meet; I had intense talks with Sarah about the following things:
Art
Video games (aaah Fallout 3)
Chinchillas
Hermit crabs
(in particular her retard Hermit Crab who doesn't have claws, crazy!)
And of course nothing says "Sunday" like not waking up until noon, not leaving the bed until almost 3pm, and having pancakes and a Denver omelette made for you.
Eugh I forgot my razor at Ty's and have to walk there on my lunch to go get it through the -25 weather, I hope it's not windy.
Why is the price I must pay to be so damn well-groomed?!

Moar to come probably tomorrow but there's a "simple chickpea curry with basmati rice" awaiting me right away so you'll have to settle for duelling mimes for now.

Much love Blog

I've got the afternoon off

which means lunch with Candice, adventures with Ty, and Christmas shopping

I'm really getting into the Christmas spirit this year

so here's one of the holiday songs I like best

do you have any favorites?

Happy Friday my dears!

Say it's only a paper moon

I love Christmastime at the office because there are yummy snacks every day.

Monday we had gingerbread men with really thick crunchy icing and candies on them.

Tuesday we had a veggie platter with ranch dip.

Yesterday we had jalapeno and artichoke dip with “naked chips” and it was divine and blew my face off with slow-burning heat.

Today we have individually-wrapped Turtles in a bowl and I’ve never had a Turtle before, so I tried one and

man

are those things ever tasty!

So I inhaled four of them in the last half an hour.

Now my tummy really hurts.

I probably shouldn’t have eaten them immediately after having leftover mango curry chicken for lunch.

Whoops.

Pretty sure I died in your arms tonight

On Monday my teacher said to me "Alyson, could you be the first to present next week? I'd like you to set a high standard for the rest of the class" which is awesome except that now working on my Power Point presentation on my lunch break for the rest of the week isn't going to cut it, so I need to somehow carve out time at home in-between writing two massive essays for Psych and another PLA assignment to do it.

What makes it a bit worse is that yesterday was basically a bust because I got some horrific news that basically tossed all my best-laid, long-term plans out the window and left me a sobbing mess on Ty's couch for a few hours.

But that's all cleared up now so I guess that's okay, except I could totally have used last night to actually do shit.

And laundry.

And sit down and relax.

Oh!

Speaking of not-relaxing, Craig & Mandy had a baby.

I SO don't want one, but I'm always happy for others when they have 'em.

Congrats guys!!!!

I was going to put up a few drunk pictures Alyx and I took on Friday and the blurry ones that I took at this amazing show I went to at the planetarium on Saturday or the amazing sandwiches that Ty and I made on Sunday or talk about how I just had spring rolls and popcorn with dill on it and watched Thirteen with Candice but I'm too tired to be witty about it and present it all in a nice, entertaining fashion.

I miss writing on my blog.

Do you guys remember Old Blog? When I'd write that weird and sometimes mildly smutty shit and post it because I just didn't give a fuck?

I long for those days; because of what happened with it I'm scared to put any sort of creative writing up here and have so much crap kicking around my computer here and at work and on scraps of paper kicking around and little notes tucked into corners of my apartment where I'll find them when I'm not expecting it and think
that was a witty moment I had there
and think about posting it here but probably wuss out as per usual.

I miss writing though, I miss sharing it here and exercising it and I'm really thinking of re-posting a bunch of my old shit that I particularly liked but does that count at Blog Post Cheating?

Maybe I should just man up and post my writing here, anyway?

What do you guys think?
