Who's gonna save me from myself?

Saturday marked March of the Robots 2010.

In which -you guessed it- a bunch of us got dressed up as robots and went on a pub crawl.
Ty and I went straight streampunk stylez- complete with articulated wings for me, and a working smoke-stack for him.
The beginnings of an epic evening.

It takes more balls than I think people realize to do something like this; I get the impression it's a bit easier to swing in a larger city but stuff like this doesn't really happen in the 'Peg so we were the subject of a lot of attention as we made our way around the city.

Fine with me!
Komus' Lira Lira BILLZ Bot.
The trick to a good costume is having a bottle of mix running up a tube for easy on-the-go drinking access. Unfortunately it generally makes for a short night; Ty and I were both in before 1am (whoops!).

Good times, I can't wait for next year!

More pictures on my flickr here or give me the 'ol Add on FB to check out the whole batch.

We're hunting witches

Today in the pocket of my blazer I found:

A pack of matches from Kustom Kulture with four matches left.
My debit card that I thought I'd lost.
Three bobbi pins
A sticker with Bugs Bunny on it.

It poured on me all the way to the office this morning, but as I was waiting to cross the street at Broadway and Osborne I saw two worms hugging each other and it made me smile.

Coeur de pirate || Ensemble from Dare To Care Records on Vimeo.

It's chilly and sort of rainy and I'm stuffed with food from the amazing Fort Garry Mother's Day Buffet, to which I took my mom for Mother's Day.

Also, my aunt from Toronto, Grandma whom I love dearly, and Dad were there also.

I love my family's values about some things; we all feel that dressing up doesn't happen enough so we dressed our Sunday Best for the brunch. I wore a lovely black-and-white dress and my super-comfy cork wedge sandals and curled my hair. My mom looked stunning, I wish she dressed up more often.

I tidied Ty's living room of all the scraps of crafting foam we've been mutilating for weeks for the March of the Robots which was last night, pictures of which will be here shortly.

Oh man, and from the Wine Festival too; I'm so behind on posting.

I re-discovered SARK today.

When I was living in Hamilton my ex and I briefly stayed with his brother and girlfriend in Brantford, Ont. and Holly introduced me to these ridiculous and brightly-colored books that I instantly fell in love with.

I'm a big sucker for feel-good messages, what can I say?

SARK has a journal which you can check out here.

I'm going to go dance.

President Obama pokes fun of Jay Leo, Jersey Shore and others, and is generally fucking awesome.

Stop watching after about 15 mins or so, because that's when Leno starts speaking and it stops being funny at all.

Go Mr. President.

Last week Gord told me that he hadn't been able to set up his account for automatic withdrawl because he hadn't had his checkbook on him.

No worries, I dropped off a check for the full amount and spoke to someone from our rental agency and instructed them to only withdraw the check, not the pre-authorized amount.

I spoke to someone at the agency. It was all good. I thought nothing more of it.

... So here is how today went:

Got to work. Worked a bit.

Thought "I should check my bank balance" and found out I'm in the negative.

I shouldn't be in the negative.

Look, and guess what. Both payments were processed.

Fuck.

Call Rental Agency, bicker. Bicker more.

Fax over copy of bank statement showing that, yes, they both went through.

Leave work.

Wait for the one bus that goes to the agency, board the bus.

Spend forever getting there.

Meet with woman. Deal with woman.

Get check from snotty receptionist.

Miss bus.

Walk for 45 minutes back downtown because it's faster and more efficient than transit.

Go to the bank to cash the check.

Realize I don't have my bank card.

Fuck.

Go home. Can't find bank card.

Fuck.

Book it to the TD on Portage and Main.

Get new bank card.

Deposit cheque.

Buy groceries from The Bay.

Book it home.

Have internet installed by prompt, friendly, cute Shaw Cable employee.

Eat a bagel.

Rest my sore feet and exhausted mind.

And I still have more running around to do.

Can someone carry me, please?
